Konkai-Komyoji Temple
The private "Torano-ma" room and a magnificent Japanese garden
Konkai-Komyoji Temple is the head temple of the Jodo sect of Buddhism and is affectionately known as “Kurodani-san.”
This is where the monk Honen Shonin first built his hermitage after descending the Kurodani valley of Mount Hiei. After praying in front of the Miei-do Kannon, you can take photos in the Daihojo and Shiun Garden, which are usually closed to the public, as well as within the temple grounds.
